Principles for Successful Living in 2012

Happy New Year To You and Yours. I pray that that goodness and favour of this year will not pass you by.

I know the Christmas holidays is a season to be jolly but i always try to make it a season to be reading. I create some leisure time in which i catch up on some extra reading before the years turns. This past holiday season was no exception.

The Monk and the MerchantOne of the books i read was entitled The Legend of the Monk and The Merchant by Felber Terry.  The book is a fantastic adventure of personal growth – set in 16th century Italy and a world of clashing empires, high-seas pirates, and incredible wealth.

Terry Felber gives the readers an engaging tale, in which they’ll meet young Julio, who is taken on a quest into adulthood, as mysterious family secrets are revealed to him by his grandfather, Antonio. Woven through the story are timeless principles of success: overcoming obstacles, money management, the secret power of partnerships, and many others.

I highly recommend that you read this book – if you growth is important to you. The Legend of the Monk and the Merchant will change the way you think about your career, wealth, and true success.

Terry Felber himself said in an interview with CBN “I think that there’s a lot of misunderstanding in the church  and Christian culture. I think there’s some definite prejudices against business, profit, and wealth.”

The 12 principles outlined in the book are powerful that i need to give them to you here to ponder on as we begin a new year; if you want to know how they came about get the book and find out.

  1. Work hard and God will prosper you.
  2. Financial Prosperity is connected to soul prosperity.
  3. A man must do whatever he can to provide for his family.
  4. Trials develop your character, preparing you for increased blessings
  5. Take responsibiity for problems that are the result of you own bad decisions. Don’t misplace the blame.
  6. See challenges as stepping stones, not as obtacles.
  7. Be meek before God, but bold before men.
  8. Loaning money destroys relationships.
  9. Live debt-free and below your means.
  10. Always keep to your budget.
  11. Set aside the first 10% to honour God.
  12. Undestand the power of partnership.

if you can follow the principles above in your life and business, this year will turn out tobe one like no other in the growth you will experience. I am going to do the same.

I wish you a prosperous new year.
