Most people have returned a library book or two late but this lateness below is in another league:
A book borrowed by the First American President, George Washington, has been returned – 221 years late!! The Law of Nations was taken from New York Social Library on October 5, 1789. Executors of Washington’s Virginia estate have replaced the copy – but have not paid the overdue fine of £210,000.
Q: Who should pay this fine?
My guess is the current occupant of the big White House on Pennsylvania Avenue, NW Washington. Pay up Mr President
