The Golden Rule is often quoted nowadays as being “He who has the gold makes the rules.” This is true in the relationships of Lenders to borrowers but it was not the golden rule i was taught growing up.
The original Golden rule says “Do unto others as you want others to do unto you.”
An electrician came to do some work for me last week at our rental apartment. Since the place was vacant, he asked me what we wanted to do with the flat; to which i informed him that our last tenants moved out about two weeks ago and we are just preparing the flat for the next occupants. When i told him that the former tenants stayed there for the last five years he look very surprised. After he had taken another look round the flat he said something that i will never forget – “Those people will soon have a house of their own – because they used this place properly.” He observation was correct and i agree with his statement.
I know you may be thinking ‘can using someone else’s things in the proper way alone make you have yours?’. No, but it holds open the door for its possiblility. It means you’ve positioned yourself in the place of using that item again if you need to. You already, unknowningly, have the blessing of the owner of the current item.
There is a verse in the bible which says “And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man’s, who shall give you that which is your own?” Luke 16:12. This is a great and ‘to-the-point’ saying and it is true even today.
Do you dream of having your own business? What you do at your current job, would determine what your employees will do under you? You always reap what you sow – one way or the other. Every conman will one day meet a greater conman (or woman).
Financial Freedom is not only a matter of money, it is also a matter of attitude as well. Remember the Golden Rule as you deal with people.
