A reader recently drew my attention to the fact that not all stores use the 99p tactics. He pointed out that the sales strategy of Primark, a clothes store chain in the UK is that their products are priced not just with 99p endings like other store but with endings like 23p, 57p, 78p etc and it seems to be working for them so far.
What i have been thinking of is that if you shop at those stores and you use cash to pay, there is no way that you will not end up with some 1p or 2p coins which many people discard these day. The question is “What do you do with your change?”
In my house, we usually deposit these ‘very’ loose change in a coin box. A few weeks ago my wife, Yinka, went to ‘change’ the coins for some other denominations and she came back with over £26. That was like finding free money.
I’m not trying to turn you into a ‘penny-pincher’ but I bet you have some of these coins in your home too. Don’t just look at them, gather them together and make them work for you somehow.
If you take care of the pennies, the pounds (£) will take care of themselves.
