Don't Ignore Hidden Expenses

We had the priviledge today of having the General Superintendent of the ELIM Petecostal Movement speak at New Life Bible Church in London.

During his message, Rev. John Glass asked the question “How do you measure the height of a tree?”. To many people, the answer will be the distance between the top and bottom of the tree. The next question is “What about those parts of the tree that are below ground?”. You see, the true height of a tree is the distance the lowest part of the root and the top of the tree. Don’t forget that it i the unseen part of the tree that helps its stability and gives it its nutrients.

In creating spending plans for any individual or family, i usually require them to record theier spending (no matter how small) for about 30 days so we can together get a better picture of where their money goes. It is usually not just the big payments that financial cause trouble but the little (seemingly insignificant) spending that do so much damage. If you can identify these items, you can turn them from leading you deeper into debt to helping you out of debt.

If you haven’t yet got an accurate idea of your monthly spending, i suggest you make that part of your goals for the year 2009. Write down everything you spend money on in the month of January and get ready to be shocked into creating a real, working Spending Plan – believe me, it will help you enjoy life better.

See you next time.
